Nongshim launched the packet version of Shin Ramyun The Red in August 2023, then followed with the 117g Big Cup in December 2023. The company said the cup carried over the same 7,500 SHU heat level as the packet and was developed after the packet version passed 20 million units in sales within four months in Korea.

Nongshim’s official product page lists the Big Cup at 117g, 520 kcal and six months shelf life from manufacture. The formula is not only hotter than standard Shin. Nongshim says The Red uses a finishing seasoning built around Cheongyang chili, black pepper, garlic and onion, while the broth profile is deepened with beef and shiitake mushroom. The cup also includes garnish such as mushroom, bok choy and egg.
The preparation method matters because this is one of Nongshim’s microwave-friendly large bowls. Public product instructions for the 117g bowl use about 400ml of boiling water, followed by around 2 minutes in a 1,000W microwave, after which the finishing seasoning is mixed in. That finishing powder should not be added casually at the wrong stage because it is part of how the final heat profile is built.
The 7,500 SHU figure is useful because it is a real manufacturer-published measure. KCN can state it without falling into vague copy about “extreme heat.” It is also commercially useful when the buyer is comparing The Red with standard Shin. The product exists to give the Shin family a clearly hotter position.
The importer should still review the exact ingredient and allergen file. Nongshim’s public description references beef and egg components, and the exact destination-market label needs to reflect the current export pack. If halal or other religious certification is required, it should be requested for barcode 8801043070881 rather than inferred from another Shin SKU.
The six-month shelf life means the first order should be sized carefully. A hot-line extension may sell quickly in specialist stores, but a general supermarket may need more time to establish repeat demand. Batch age should be quoted alongside the commercial price.
For freight, 16 rigid bowls contain less than 1.9kg of food. KCN’s source data also shows a case-related commercial figure of roughly 15.87 in the originating sheet, which should be treated as supplier logistics data rather than converted into a hard gross-weight claim until confirmed.
