If an importer is taking only a small number of cartons for fast-moving convenience stores, an older batch may still be commercially workable. If the product is heading into a slow listing process with distributor warehousing and supermarket approvals, the same batch can become a problem.
The right question at quote stage is simple: what is the remaining shelf life of the stock actually being offered?
